How Beta Reading Works

A simple process that takes minutes, not hours.

The Reading Experience

Once you sign up, you'll have access to all chapters of Talk with Death. Read them in order or skip around—it's up to you.

Each chapter is displayed on its own page, formatted for comfortable reading on any device.

Leaving Feedback

As you read, simply highlight any text — a word, a sentence, or an entire paragraph. A popup will appear letting you react:

You can also add an optional comment to explain your reaction in more detail. This is incredibly helpful for understanding why something didn't work.

You don't need to highlight everything—only the parts that stand out, positively or negatively.

What Happens to Your Feedback

Your reactions are aggregated with other beta readers. I can see patterns: which sections confuse multiple people, where readers disengage, what resonates most strongly.

This data-driven approach helps me revise effectively. Instead of guessing what works, I can see it directly.

Your Reward

Everyone who signs up and provides feedback receives:

  • A free copy of the published book (worth £25)
  • Acknowledgement in the book (if you'd like)
  • Early access to the final version before public release

Time Commitment

The book is approximately 40,000 words (a 3-4 hour read). You can read at your own pace—there's no deadline. Leaving reactions adds minimal time; most readers find it takes seconds per chapter.
